- The season runs from November to June
- Traditionally organised by a local hunt, Point-to-Point is amateur horse racing over jumps. Many courses are set up just once a year around some suitable local fields. Even with increasing professionalism in the sport, many people still ride their own hunter in the "members race" or train their own horse or two. It's a great day out, when a diversity of rural people come together to enjoy the sport and to socialise in a unique winter environment. Spectators can get up close to the fences, feel the thundering hooves, hear the horses rip through the brush, which is really exciting, and then almost touch the hot steaming horses in the winners enclosure. It is very much less formal that professional racing, with a great deal more mud and some dodgy toilets. A picnic is a must even though there are usually food stalls offering hot food.
- Cotswold Horse Tours can take you to a local point-to-point meeting, where you can get really close to the action, maybe place a bet with the bookies and enjoy the buzz and watch the people. The package includes entry, race card and the services of a friendly expert guide to explain the runners and riders.
- This is a non-riding activity and very suitable for a group or family.
