- Heavy horses are one of the treasures of the British horse world but numbers are low and all breeds are at risk of extinction. Many Shows have in-hand and driven classes for these spectacular horses, which always draw the crowds. Increasingly popular are ridden classes, an idea that has come over from Europe and which might help secure a future for these lovely creatures: in the past they were considered to be work animals and so not ridden.
- Cotswold Horse Tours can arrange a pleasure drive through the countryside, riding in a wagon drawn by huge but gentle Shire horses. This might be for an hour or so but possibly for longer if you wish to stop at a pub along the way. It is possible to accommodate larger groups (up to ten people) in this activity. It is fun for all the family.
- Cotswold Horse Tours can arrange a specialist training day with an expert horseman, learning to understand and handle heavy horses, grooming, tacking them up and then, later in the day, working them in carts or to a plough. This might be also be combined with a drive in a horse drawn wagon.
- This a non-riding activity and is very suitable for a small group.
